Living A Tube Life
Future has always been an interesting thing to think about. How will society be looking like in the near and far future? But during my search for this future society, I was faced by a rare new concept. And it’s fascinating to see how some sustainable devices come together in one big concept.
21 kilometers long and cleaning
In Delhi, the capital of India, there has been thought out a concept of building a gigantic long Tube. The tube will be spanning over 21 kilometers alongside the Yamuna river. Designer Abhinay Sharma has the intention to make the tube cleaning the polluted Yamuna river. And that comes in the nick of time, because this polluted river streams to a growing city of millions. However, why would this thing than be as high as the designs show us?
Inside farming
Besides cleaning the river’s water, the tube will be a place for farmgrounds. In this first section of the building, the tube will let in as much sunrises as needed for the plants to grow in a proper way. It will become a fresh and bright place. The cleaned water will be used for the vegetation on the farms. It is going to be an idealistic place for growing vegetables for instance.
Shelter to live and work in
Secondly, as the tube is closing in to the city, the farms will get replaced by appartments for civillins to live in. And while it gets more close to the centre of city of Delhi, there will also be room for employment. This contains room for offices. Again the groomed river water will provide these shelter facilities from water. And I think I don’t say anything weird when telling you there will be solar panels on top of the roof of the entire tube.
Multifunctional, a standard?
The innovative part of all of this is that this building changes to the area it’s in. The rural areas will have a totally different look and function than the urban ones it goes through. And besides that, it’s a rare kind of architecture. In it, there will be lots of green and it will be self-sufficient. Buildings like this will obviously gain interest in the near future. With the growing cities and the growing need of space, these multifunctional architectures are the next step. And it is also good for the quality of life there, because it cleans the river, giving the cities a more refreshing look.
